Text Search Filters in "All Companies": semantic vs exact matches
Your platform offers two ways to filter text content. “Semantic search” aims to understand the meaning and context behind the entered query, providing results that are relevant even if they don't contain the exact keywords entered. On the other hand, “exact matching search” only returns results that precisely match the keywords. Here are the filter options you can choose from:
Semantic Vector Search filter:
“Company Text Quick Search (About) (Description)” filter
- Uses vector-based machine learning models and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for faster results compared to exact matching filters.
- Identifies companies based on semantic similarity to the company “Description” field and the descriptions found across the website content (”About”). For example:
- Searching "Financial Consulting" might return "Corporate Finance Advisors" or "Investment Strategy Consultants”
- Results are capped at 1,000 when using the 'AND' operator, including any additional filters applied.
Use Cases and Tips:
- Enter one single topic, either as a word (e.g., “Hospital”) or sentence (e.g. “Hospital Technology Services”).
- To search for multiple topics, reapply the filter in the Advanced Filters section.
- Avoid applying a Sector filter, and instead include the sector as your search term.
Exact matching filters:
Use other 'Text Search' filters for exact matches on specific search terms:
- Company Text Search (Global) - searches across the company “Description” field and the descriptions found across the website content (”About”).
- Company Text Search (Description) - searches within the company “Description” field.
- Company Text Search (About) - searches the information found across the company’s website.
- Company Text Search (Keywords) - searches within the company “Keywords” field. Keywords are specific stored values, either from your data providers, or generated by machine learning models running on your platform.
